On the occasion of International Literacy Day, we decided to loosen up a bit and do something a wee different. Donations are usually hard work – even if they are online! So we feel. Plus the million donation requests we receive via FB events or SMS should make us feel that we are but living in an altruistic world, and the papers which scream out scams are glossing it. So we made donation very simple for you. In just 3 simple clicks you can make a little difference to a child’s education career.

We kicked off this ‘Donate-A-Word’ campaign wherein you can help spread literacy in 3 simple steps:

1) Choose a word from the list : PEN/ PENCIL / NOTEBOOK / CRAYONS

2) Write that word back to us at thewordjockey@gmail.com with your contact details latest by 30th September and

3) Hit the ‘send’ button on your mailbox :)

What happens next? : We shall donate the item you have selected, to the NGO Adarshmay who will distribute the same to the lesser privileged kids. Simple na? If you need to know more (after all this?) here’s some more info for u:

About:

DONATE-A-WORD is a Donation Drive to collect books and basic stationery on the occasion of International Literacy Day which is celebrated every year on the 8th of September. Initiated by The Word Jockey Writing and Communication Services (www.thewordjockey.in)  and supported by Adarshmay.org (www.adarshmay.org) the drive aims to empower students with basic educational material which they require for day to day studies.

How to participate: Simply  reply with your preferred item before 30th of September. The Distribution shall be held in 2nd week of October

Objective: Encouraging literacy, spreading education and imparting knowledge to kids. In a world where values and ethics have been lost in materialism, education is the best tool to help us evolve.

  15. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
